BIOGRAPHY

Ever since she won a gold medal at the All Kids Japan Triathlon while at junior high school the desire to become a professional triathlete has been growing in her heart. When she knocked on the door of the Tokyo Verdy Triathlon Team it was to learn the way to be an Olympian. Since then she has been based in Inagi City, Tokyo being coached by Noriko Yamakura and Kazuhiko Yamakura. She quickly became one of the successful Japanese rookie triathletes and earned many titles in ASTC Asian Championships in both the Junior and U23 categories. Aoi has been regularly selected to represent Japan in the Junior and U-23 Teams at the annual ITU Triathlon World Championships. She made her World Triathlon Series debut in Stockholm in 2014 where she placed 41st. She has also competed in the WTS Abu Dhabi, Yokohama and Hamburg events. Last year she placed 38th at the ITU World Olympic Qualification Event in Rio de Janeiro.
