Yuko Takahashi scored gold at the 13th World University Triathlon Championships held in Nyon, Switzerland on 7th August 2016. It was her third time participating in the Championships and she finally took the top of podium. The National University Sport Federations can select a maximum of six athletes per country and per gender. For this year, 66 men and 56 women were competing in the race, Swim 1500m (3 laps), Bike 40km (4 laps), Run 10km (4 laps). For men, Hiroaki Kobayashi ranked 8th over all and finished as No.1 Japanese athlete.
