JOC Talent Transfer Trial
- Triathlon Programme -

Object
JOC High Performance Headquarter set a goal of increasing numbers of medalist at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. As part of athlete enhancement programme, JTU together with Japan Association of Athletic Federations and Japan Swimming Federation, to direct talented athlete to a better suited sport. The first Triathlon Talent Identification Programme will take place on 20 November 2016 and the second will be held in February next year.

Tryout Schedule

Sunday, 20th November 2016 (The second tryout is TBD - February 2017 ) 09:00-15:00

10:00-     Briefing at poolside
10:15-11:15 Swim time trial
11:15-13:00 Break
13:00-     Run warming up at Track and Field
13:45-     Run time trial

Eligibility rules
*Participants must meet following eligibility requirements.
Athlete aged over 18 who has Japanese nationality and has achieved success at national and international level of swimming or athletics.
The Try Out consists of two measurements to establish athletes physical potential; 400m Swim in long course(50m pool) and 5000m Run in the 400m track.
The qualifying standard time are as follows:
【Type 1. All-round athlete】
 Men: (400m swim time ×2)+5000m run time= in 00:23:30
 Women: (400m swim time ×2)+5000m run time= in 00:26:25
【Type 2. Strong swimmer】
 Men: 400m swim – under 00:03:55.70 & 5000m run – under 00:16:25
 Women: 400m swim – under 00:04:17.25 & 5000m run – under 00:18:41
【Type 3. Strong runner】
 Men: 400m swim – under 00:04:31.00
 5000m run – under 00:13:52
 Women: 400m swim – under 00:04:58.00
 5000m run – under 00:15:50

 

Evaluation
Participants will be evaluated and selected according to the results.

 

Athlete support for selected athlete
1. Term:
 1 year from the date of approval (It can be extended)
2. Supports:
 (1) environmental support and coaching support
 (2) Equipment and gear for Triathlon
 (3) Events entry fees
 (4) Travel subsidy and training camp
 (5) JTU support as certified athlete

 

Overall flow
1. Register at JTU official website
2. Participate in tryout
3. Interview – selected athlete only
4. Determined the customized support plan
