Personal Achievements and Goals
(ITU Technical Committee Candidacy)

 

My first triathlon was 1989, it passed 22 years. Officiated Ishigaki World Cup in 1998, it was my debut as technical official. And I experienced many ITU events including Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London Olympics as technical official.

Currently I am one of the two female Executive Board members of the Japanese Triathlon Union (JTU). Working as a technical liaison with JTU, I have been coordinating events nationwide. I have experienced in the technical fields as vice chair of JTU Technical Committee.

Triathlon stage is huge big area and is easily affected by natural environment, weather, terrain and etc. Of course safe and fair is very important. I think trustworthiness is most required between technical officials and athletes for their better relationships.

When I was an active athlete, I could have competed in safe and peace mind because reliable technical official was there. Keeping this in mind I also want to be part of such technical officials and am determined to devote myself to the sport.

I think TO job is not that easy in its various filed, but interesting. Sometimes people ask me, "Are there rules for triathlon? What's rule of triathlon? " My answer is that technical official is there to approve the achievement of athletes by rules.

As many of our colleagues are aware the competition course is temporary set up. Therefore, if it has done well enough, there will be few opportunities of incidents and penalties. ITU has been doing this job perfectly good and going for the better. It is my pleasure to promote this movement throughout the world.

Triathlon field is very wide, for age and elite, kids and over 80 years old, beginner and experienced, sprint and long distance, paratriathlon and many more. I will continue to work for athletes while improving triathlon quality together with our international colleagues in sport.
