World Triathlon Championship Series Yokohama Organizing Committee Holds General Assembly

The General Assembly of the World Triathlon Championship Series Yokohama Organizing Committee was held on 5 February 2026.
Members of the organizing committee and key stakeholders, including representatives from the four main host organizations, gathered to share the event overview of the 2026 event and to confirm key policies and directions for preparation. The meeting marked the official full-scale kickoff toward WTCS/WTPS Yokohama 2026.

◆Comment from Yokohama Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka (Event Chairman)
We will continue striving to ensure that the event is recognized not only by the citizens of Yokohama, but also by the people of Japan and audiences around the world. By fostering the next generation, we aim to support the long-term sustainability of Yokohama’s sports scene. Building on the Gold Certification for sustainability we received last year, we will continue delivering sustainable event operations while further enhancing the vitality and vibrancy of Yokohama City.

While reflecting on last year’s event held under rainy conditions, we will endeavor to make the 16th edition of the Yokohama event sustainable and to deliver an international sporting event that Yokohama, Japan and the world can be proud of.

Prior to the General Assembly, Yokohama Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka (Event Chairman) and President Mitsuhide Iwaki of Triathlon Japan (Organizing Committee Chairman) met to exchange views. They engaged in a frank and constructive discussion on topics such as ensuring sustainable event operations, developing the next generation, and creating even greater vibrancy for Yokohama.
