Triathlon Japan and Swiss Triathlon have signed a cooperation agreement, laying the foundation for stronger long term collaboration between the two national federations.

The agreement was signed by Stefan Ruf, President of Swiss Triathlon, and Mitsuhide Iwaki, President of Triathlon Japan. The partnership aims to promote exchange between Switzerland and Japan and create new opportunities for athletes, coaches and other members of both triathlon communities.

At the heart of the partnership are the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as the development of joint opportunities across different areas of triathlon. Both federations aim to learn from one another, strengthen their international networks and benefit in the long term from their respective experience and expertise.

“With this Memorandum of Understanding, Swiss Triathlon and Triathlon Japan are strengthening a partnership based on mutual respect, shared values and long term cooperation. We want to create concrete opportunities for athletes, coaches and our entire triathlon community to learn from one another, exchange knowledge and grow together at an international level,” says Stefan Ruf, President of Swiss Triathlon.

Mitsuhide Iwaki, President of Triathlon Japan, also highlights the importance of the shared history and the focus on the next generation:

“I am genuinely pleased that Swiss Triathlon and Triathlon Japan have concluded this Memorandum of Understanding. Switzerland and Japan, both founding members of the ITU, now World Triathlon, share a long standing history, experience and knowledge in the sport. By deepening our mutual exchange, we aim to further advance this legacy and pass it on to the next generation. Through this strengthened partnership, we hope that athletes, coaches and indeed the entire triathlon community, from age group athletes to children, will benefit from new opportunities for friendly exchange and help foster the continued growth of our triathlon communities.”

With this agreement, Swiss Triathlon and Triathlon Japan are sending a strong signal for international cooperation that goes beyond sporting competition, placing exchange and the joint development of triathlon at the heart of their partnership.
