DEFINITIONS：ディフィニション（用語の定義）

Age: The age of the athlete on the 31st of December of the year of the competition, if explicitly states.
エイジ（年齢）：明確な表現は、競技実施年の12月31日現在での競技者の年齢（訳注：想定年齢）。

 

Age group Team Managers Briefing: Meeting with the Age group team manager and coaches in which they are informed by the TD about all the specifications of the race.
エイジグループ・チームマネージャーズ・ブリーフィング（年齢別競技者のチームマネージャー競技説明会）：技術代表（TD）がエイジグループのチームマネージャーとコーチにレースの全詳細を説明する会議。

 

Aid/Outside Assistance:　Any kind of material support or personal assistance received by the athlete. Depending on its nature, it may be allowed or forbidden
エイド/アウトサイド・アシスタンス（エイド/外部支援）：競技者が受けた何らかのマテリアルサポート（物品補助）や個人的支援。その状況・特質（ネイチャー）により、許可あるいは禁止される。

 

Ambush Marketing: Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.
アンブッシュ・マーケティング（不意打ち的広告手法）：テレビ放送やメディアカメラマンの映像機会を意図的に使って、競技者のスポンサー製品、アパレル、ブランドを露出すること。

 

Appeal: A request to the Competition Jury of an event or the ITU Executive Board for a review of the decision of the Referee/Competition Jury. (Note:This cannot include an appeal against the finding of a doping violation or against the penalty imposed for the finding of a doping violation. These appeals must be directed to the ITU Executive Board independently.)
アピール（上訴）：審判長や審議委員会の決定に対し、大会審議委員会やITU理事会へ再考を求める申し立て。（備考: ドーピング違反認定やドーピング違反認定での罰則に対する上訴は、これに含めることができない。これらの上訴は、別途、ITU理事会に行わなければならない）

 

Appellant: An athlete submitting an appeal
アペラント（上訴人）：上訴を申し立てた競技者。

Aquathlon: The term recognised by the ITU for a sport of individual character and motivation that combines swimming and running skills in continuum.
アクアスロン（スイム・ラン競技）：スイム（水泳）とラン（ランニング）のスキル（技能）を連続して組み合わせた、個人の特質や意欲を競うスポーツに対し、ITUが承認した用語。

 

Assistance: Any attempt by an unauthorised or unofficial source to help or to stabilize an athlete.
アシスタンス（援助）：非公認または非公式な資源（人や物）により、競技者を手助けしたり、支えるために行う何らかの試み。

 

Assistant Chief Technical Official:　Responsible to the Chief Technical Official for coordinating the employment of the Technical Officials assigned to his/her race course segment or area.
アシスタント・チーフテクニカルオフィシャル（アシスタント技術役員）：チーフテクニカルオフィシャル（主任技術役員）に対し、レースコースの区分や場所に任命されたTO（審判員）業務の調整について責任を有する。

 

Athletes: The competitiors who register for and compete in ITU events.
アスリーツ（競技者：選手）：ITUイベントに登録しそこに出場する競技者。

 

Athletes’Briefing:　Meeting with the elite athletes in which they are informed by the TD about all the specifications of the race.
アスリート・ブリーフィング（競技者用説明会）：技術代表がエリート競技者にすべてのレース詳細を知らせる説明会。

 

Bike Course:　Part of the race course over which it has been defined in the Athletes’ Briefing the bike is to be ridden, walked or carried within distinctive lane boundaries. The bike course commences from the Mount Line and concludes at the Dismount Line.
バイクコース（自転車コース）：限定的なコースの境界線のなかで、バイクに乗り、歩き、運ぶための競技コースの一部であり、アスリーツブリーフィングで明示される。バイクコースは、乗車ラインから始まり、降車ラインで終わる。

 

Blocking:　The deliberate impeding or obstructing of progress of one athlete by another. An athlete on the bike course, who is not keeping to the appropriate side of the road.
ブロッキング（進路妨害）：他の競技者が、競技者の進行を意図的に妨害するか進路をさえぎること。道路の適切なサイド（訳注：左側か右側）をキープしないバイクコースの競技者。

 

Charge:　The contacting of one athlete by another from the front, rear or side, and hindering that athlete’s progress.
チャージ（接触妨害）：他の競技者から競技者に対し、前方、後方から、横から接触し、競技者の進行を妨げること。

 

Chief Technical Official:　Appointed by the Referee and is responsible for the control and coordination of the deployment of Technical Officials.
チーフテクニカル・オフィシャル（CTO：技術主任役員）：審判長より指名され、テクニカル・オフィシャル（技術役員：審判員）の配置の管理と調整を担当する。

 

Clean Start: All the athletes start after the horn. The race continues.
クリーンスタート（適正スタート）：すべての競技者が、ホーンの後にスタートする。そのレースは続行する。

 

Coaches meeting: Meeting with the coaches in which they are informed by the TD about all the specifications of the race
コーチス・ミーティング（コーチ会議）：TDがコーチにレースのすべての詳細を説明する会議。

 

Competition Jury: The Jury appointed and chaired by the Technical Delegate.It is held responsible to determine, to hear and to rule on all appeals against decisions handed down through the Referee, including decisions on protests.
コンペティション・ジュリー（審議委員会）：技術代表が任命し、議長を務める審議委員会。抗議への判定を含め、審判長が下した判定に対するすべての上訴を、裁定・聴取・統制する責任をもって開催する。

 

Continental Technical Officials (CTOs): The Level 2 Technical Officials certified by ITU.
コンチネンタル・テクニカルオフィシャル (CTO：大陸別技術役員)：ITUが認定した「レベル2テクニカルオフィシャル」。

 

Courses: A forward line of progress from start to finish, which must be clearly marked and measured to prescribed specifications.
コース（競技コース）：スタートからフイニッシュまでの進路を示すライン。所定の規格を満たすよう計測し、明確に表示されていなければならない。

 

Crawling: The action by an athlete of bringing three or more limbs in contact with the ground, either together or in any sequence, to enable forward propulsion.
クローリング（這うこと）：前に進むために、手足の3つ以上を同時にまたは次々と地面に着ける競技者の行為。

 

Dismount Before The Dismount Line: An athlete’s foot must contact the ground entirely before the dismount line. If this contact doesn’t occur, it is considered an infringement of the rules.
ディスマウント・ビフォー・ディスマウント・ライン（降車ライン手前の降車）：降車ラインの手前で、競技者の足が完全に地面に接触しなければならない。接触していない場合は、ルール違反とみなされる。

 

Dismount Line: A designated line at the entrance of the Transition Area from the bike course before which athletes are to dismount their bikes fully and proceed to the bike racks. The Dismount Line will normally extend for the width of the entrance to the Transition Area and be identified by flags/line/Technical Official, or combinations thereof.
ディスマウント・ライン（降車ライン）：バイクコースからトランジションエリア入口の手前に指定されたラインで、競技者はこの手前でバイクを完全に降車し、バイクラックへと進む。降車ラインは、通常トランジションエリア入口の幅にわたり、旗・ライン・テクニカルオフィシャル（審判員）または、これらの連係で示される。

 

Disqualification: A penalty assigned as appropriate for the rule violation, which has been reported, or for which a protest has been upheld.As a result of this penalty, the athlete will not be given finish or split times for the event, no account will be taken of the athlete when placings are assessed for any category or for the race as a whole, and the athlete’s results will appear as DSQ.
ディスクォリフィケーション:DSQ（失格）：報告を受けたか、抗議が受け入れられたルール違反に対し、相応に適用されるペナルティ。このペナルティにより、競技者には、当該大会のフィニッシュやスプリットタイムが与えられず、競技者のいずれかのカテゴリーでの順位があっても、レース全体での記録はDSQ（失格）と表記される。

 

Draft Zone Bicycle: The draft zone is a rectangle created by every athlete in which other athletes can enter for a limited period of time and for overtaking purposes. The dimensions of the draft zone are dependent on the race distance.
ドラフトゾーン・バイシクル（自転車ドラフトゾーン）：ドラフトゾーンは、すべての競技者が形づくる長方形のゾーンであり、他競技者が追い越すために限られた時間だけ侵入できる。ドラフトゾーンの範囲は、競技距離により決められる。

 

Draft Zone Vehicle: The draft zone for a motor vehicle is a rectangle 35 metres long and 5 metres wide which surround every vehicle on the bike course. The centre front of the vehicle defines the centre of the leading 5-metre edge of the rectangle.
ドラフトゾーン・ビークル（車両ドラフトゾーン）：自動車両のドラフトゾーンは、バイクコース上の個々の車両を囲む長さ35メートル、幅5メートルの長方形である。
車両の前面中心部（センターフロント）が、長方形前部の横5メートルの中心と定義される。

 

Drafting: Any time the draft zone of an athlete overlaps the draft zone of another athlete, vehicle or motorcycle on the bike course of an event.
ドラフティング（接近集団走行）：競技者のドラフトゾーンが、大会のバイクコース上の他競技者、車両や自動二輪車のドラフトゾーンと重なっている状況。

 

Duathlon: The term recognised by the ITU for a sport of individual character and motivation, which combines cycling and running skills in continuum.
デュアスロン（ラン・バイク競技）：ラン（ランニング）とバイク（自転車）のスキル（技能）を連続して組み合わせた、個人の特質や意欲を競うスポーツに対し、ITUが承認した用語。

 

Early start:　When an athlete’s foot crossed the vertical plane of the start line, before the start signal.
アーリースタート（早期スタート）：競技者の足が、スタート合図の前に、スタートラインの鉛直面を越えた状況。

 

Elite： Elite athletes are those competing in elite races.
エリート（上位競技者）：エリート・アスリートは、エリートレースで競技する者。

 

Event Organisers Manual(EOM): A document which has been developed to ensure the implementation of consistently high global event management and marketing standards.
イベントオーガナイザーズ・マニュアル（EOM：大会主催者用マニュアル）：常に高度な世界的大会運営およびマーケティング基準の実施を確実にするために制作されたドキュメント（書類）。

 

Expulsion: An athlete penalised by expulsion will not be permitted, during his or her lifetime, to take part in any ITU sanctioned event, or any event sanctioned by one of its member associations (National Federation) affiliated with the ITU.
イクスパルション（追放）：追放のペナルティを受けた競技者は、生涯において、ITU公認大会やITU加盟NF公認大会への出場が認められない。

 

Field of Play (FOP) :The course on which the competition portions of the ITU event will take place.
フィールド・オブ・プレイ（競技会場）：ITUイベントの競技を実施するコース。

 

Final: Last round of an event in qualifying round format. The final decides the winner and the medallist of the event.
ファイナル（決勝）：予選形式のイベントの最終ラウンド。ファイナルでは、勝者とイベントのメダリストを決定する。

 

Finisher: An athlete who completes the entire race course within the rules and crosses the finish line, or a vertical extension of the forward edge of the finish line, with any part of the torso (i.e. as distinct from the head, neck, arms, legs, hands or feet).
フィニッシャー（完走者）：ルールのなかで全競技コースを終え、フィニッシュラインあるいはフィニッシュライン前の縁から縦に延びる線を、トルソー（胴体の上部だけで、頭、首、腕、脚、手、足は除く）の一部が越えた競技者。

 

Force Majeure: Action of the elements, strike, lockout or other industrial disturbance, unlawful act against public order or authority, war blockade, public riot, lightning, fire or explosion, storm, flood, blacklisting, boycott or sanctions however incurred, freight embargo, transportation delay or any other, event which is not reasonably within the control of the party affected.
フォース・メジャー（不可抗力）：自然力の影響（天災）、ストライキ、ロックアウト、または他の産業的妨害、社会秩序や権威に対する不法行為、戦争封鎖、市民暴動、雷、火事、または爆発、嵐、氾濫、ブラックリスト記載、貨物出入禁止、ボイコットや制裁を被むること、輸送遅延など、影響を受ける団体の合理的管理が及ばない事象（出来事）。

 

Incapable Athlete: An athlete deemed by race medical staff as not being able to continue the event without the likelihood of causing injury to him/herself or another athlete.
インケイパブル・アスリート（競技困難な競技者）： 競技者自身または他競技者に、傷害等を生じさせることなく競技を続けることができないと、メディカルスタッフにみなされた競技者。

 

Indecent Exposure: The willful uncovering of either or both buttocks, or of the pubic area or of the genital area. In addition, in the case of a female athlete, the willful complete uncovering of one or both nipples.
インディセント・エクスポージャー（不適切な露出）：臀部の一方か両方、陰部、生殖部分の意識的な脱衣。女子競技者では、乳首の片方か両方の意識的な全脱衣。

Interference: A deliberate block, charge or abrupt motion, which impedes another athlete.
インターフィアランス（妨害）：他競技者への妨げとなる意図的なブロック、チャージまたは突発的な動作。

 

International Technical Officials (ITOs): The Level 3 Technical Officials certified by ITU.
インターナショナルテクニカルオフィシャル（ITO）：ITUが認定するレベル3テクニカルオフィシャル

 

International Triathlon Union (ITU): The world governing body of triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, winter triathlon and all other related multisport, a non-profit corporation incorporated under the laws of Canada, domiciled and residing at #221-998 Harbourside Dr., in the city of North Vancouver, Province of British Columbia, Canada.
インターナショナル・トライアスロン・ユニオン（国際トライアスロン連合：ITU）：トライアスロン、デュアスロン、アクアスロン、ウインタートライアスロンとすべての関連マルチスポーツ（複合競技）の世界統括団体。カナダの法律下にあり#221-998Harbourside Dr., in the city of North Vancouver, Province of British Columbia, Canadaに所在地を置く非営利法人。

 

ITU Competition Rules: The document that contains all the rules and regulations that governs fair and safe competitions.
ITUコンペティション・ルール（ITU競技規則）：公平で安全な競技を司るすべてのルール（規則）とレギュレーション（規制）を包含するドキュメント（書類）。

 

ITU Rules: The ITU Event Organisers’ Manual (latest edition), ITU Competition Rules, ITU Constitution and By-Laws, ITU Uniform Rules, ITU Anti-Doping Rules and WADA Code, ITU Athletes’ Agreement, ITU Qualification Criteria, ITU Ranking Criteria and any other rules adopted and amended by ITU from time to time and available for consultation via the download section of the ITU’s official website www.triathlon.org.
ITUルール（ITU規則）：ITUイベント・オーガナイザーズ・マニュアル（最新版）、ITU競技規則、ITU憲章と細則、ITUユニフォーム規則、ITUアンチドーピング規則、並びにWADA規程、ITU競技者契約、ITU選考基準、ITUランキング基準およびITUが適時適用・改定する他のすべての規則。ITU公式ウエブサイトのダウンロードの欄から参照できる。

Invalid Start: Some athletes start clearly before the horn and some others stay behind the start line. The start is not clean and is declared invalid.
インバリッド・スタート（無効なスタート）数名の選手が明らかにホーンの前にスタートし、他の選手はスタートラインの前に残った場合。スタートはクリーンではなく無効と宣言される。

 

Local Organising Committee (LOC): The organising entity of an ITU event.
ローカル・オーガナイジング・コミッティ（地元実行委員会：LOC）ITUイベントの運営母体

 

Mount After The Mount Line: An athlete’s foot must contact the ground entirely past the mount line. If this contact doesn’t occur, it is considered an infringement of the rules.
マウント・アフター・ザ・マウントライン（乗車ライン後の乗車）：競技者の足は、乗車ライン越えてから、地面に完全に接触しなければならない。接触していない場合は、ルール違反とみなされる。

 

Mount Line: A designated line at the exit from the Transition Area onto the bike course or after which athletes are to mount their bicycles and proceed.
The Mount Line will normally extend for the width of the exit of the Transition Area and be identified by flags/line/Technical Official, or combinations thereof.

National Federation(NF): National triathlon governing body affiliated with ITU.
ナショナル・フェデレーション（NF：国内統括団体）ITUに加盟する国内トライアスロン統括団体。

National Technical Officials (NTOs): The Level 1 Technical Officials certified by the NF.
ナショナル・テクニカル・オフィシャル (NTO)： 各国連盟（NF）が認定する「レベル1（ワン）」テクニカル・オフィシャル（技術役員＝審判員）」。

 

Overtake: On the bike course, when the leading edge of the front wheel of the overtaking bike moves in front of the leading edge of the front wheel of the bike being overtaken. An athlete can pass another athlete only on the appropriate side.
オーバーテイク（追い越し）：バイクコース上で、追い越す側のバイク前輪先端が、追い越される側のバイク前輪先端の前に出た状態。競技者は、他競技者の片側※からのみ追い越すことができる。（※訳注：正しい片側＝競技説明会でTDがいずれかを指示する）

 

Pack: Two or more athletes with overlapping draft zones.
パック（集団）：ドラフトゾーンが重なる2人以上の競技者。

 

Pass: When one athlete’s bike draft zone overlaps another athlete’s bike draft zone, makes continual forward progress through that zone and overtakes within a maximum period of 15 seconds (for standard distance events or shorter events) or 20 seconds (for long distance events). An athlete can pass another athlete only on the appropriate side.
パス（追い越し）：競技者のドラフトゾーンが、他競技者のドラフトゾーンに重なったとき、ゾーン内を前進し続けながら、最大15秒（スタンダードディスタンスとより短い大会）または、20秒（ロングディスタンス大会）以内に、追い越す状態。競技者は他競技者の片側※からのみ追い越すことができる。※前項参照

 

Penalty:　The consequence on an athlete, who is assessed by an ITU Technical Official to have unintentionally committed a rule infringement/violation. A penalty may take the form of a time delay, disqualification, suspension or expulsion.
ペナルティ（罰則）：意図的ではなくルール違反を行ったと、ITUテクニカルオフィシャルが判定した競技者への結果的な対処。ペナルティは、時間遅延の罰則、失格、資格停止、追放の形をとる。

 

Penalty Box：　An area on the bike course or the run course, set aside for the implementation of a time penalty for a rule infringement/violation.
ペナルティボックス（罰則適用ボックス）：ルール違反のタイムペナルティ適用のために、バイクコースやランコースに設けられたエリア。

 

Protest： A formal complaint against the conduct of another athlete or a race official, or against the conditions of the competition.
プロテスト（抗議）：他の競技者やレースオフィシャル（技術役員：審判員）の言動、または競技状況に対する公式な申し立て。

 

Referee: A Technical Official, who is responsible to the Technical Delegate to hear and make final decisions on all rules violations reported by Technical Officials.
レフリー（審判長）：技術代表（TD）に直接的責任を負うテクニカルオフィシャル（TO＝技術役員：審判員）として、TOが報告するすべてのルール違反について、ヒアリングし最終決定を行う。

 

Results: The timed finish positions of all athletes after violation reports have been ruled on, protests and appeals have been heard, and penalties have been awarded.
リザルト（結果記録）： 違反報告への裁定、抗議や上訴へのヒアリング（聴聞）、罰則（ペナルティ）が与えられた後の全競技者の計時された順位。

 

Right of Way:　When an athlete has established a lead position and pursues a desired course within the limits of these ITU Competition Rules.
ライト・オブ・ウェイ（優先走行権）：競技者が先行する位置を確保し、ITU競技規則の範囲内で好みのコースに向かおうとする状況。

 

Round: Each of the stages of an event with qualifing format. One event in qualifying round format has two rounds: semifinals and final.
ラウンド（一試合）：予選形式でのイベントの各ステージ。一つの予選ラウンド形式では、準決勝と決勝がある：

 

Run Course: Part of the race course, which has been defined at the Athletes’ Briefing where the athlete is to run or walk within distinctive lane boundaries. In triathlons and aquathlons, the run course commences at the exit from the Transition Area and concludes at the Finish Line. In duathlons, the first run course commences at the start line and finishes at the entry to the Transition Area; the second run course commences at the exit from the Transition Area and concludes at the Finish Line.
ランコース（ランニングコース）：限定的なコースの境界線のなかで、走り、歩くための競技コースの一部であり、競技説明会で明示される。トライアスロンやアクアスロンのランコースは、トランジションエリア出口に始まりフィニッシュラインで終わる。デュアスロンでは第1ランコースは、スタートラインに始まりトランジションエリア入口で終わる。第2ランコースは、トランジションエリア出口に始まりフィニッシュラインで終わる。

 

Sanction：A permit issued by the National Federation for the conduct of an event. The issue of such a permit is a declaration by the sanctioning authority that plans for the event have been thoroughly inspected and have been found to comply fully with the requirements of National Federation operating requirements to provide the greatest potential for the conduct of a safe and fair event.
サンクション（認可）：国内競技団体（NF）が与える大会運営の認可。このような認可の発令は、大会計画が、十分に検証され、安全で公正な大会を実施するために、最大の力を提供すると定めたNF運営要項に適合していることを、所轄団体が宣言するものである。

 

Semifinal: Preliminary round of an event in qualifying round format. The semifinals determine the athletes qualified to the final.
セミファイナル（準決勝）：予選形式でのイベントの予備予選。準決勝は、決勝に進む競技者を決める。

 

Sportsmanship: The behavior of an athlete during competition. Sportsmanship is interpreted as fair, rational and courteous behavior, while bad sports conduct is any behavior judged to be unfair, unethical or dishonest, a violent act, intentional misconduct, abusive language, intimidating behavior, or persistent infringement of the rules.
スポーツマンシップ（競技者精神）：競技中における競技者の振る舞い。スポーツマンシップは、公平、理性的、礼儀正しい振る舞いとし、不道徳なスポーツの行為としては、不公正、非倫理的、不正直とみられる振る舞い、威圧的な行為、意図的な不品行、乱暴な言葉、威圧的態度または継続的なルール違反をいう。

 

Standard Bridge Piece: A rigid piece, of plastic or metal, which joins both sides of the handlebar clip-on at the ends and is commercially available.
スタンダード・ブリッジ・ピース（標準ブリッジ部品）：ハンドルのクリップオン（訳注：エアロバー）両側の先端を結合するプラスチックや金属製の堅い（かたい）部品で、市販されているもの。

 

Stop and Go Time Penalty: A method of imposing a brief delay on an athlete who is assessed by a Technical Official to have unintentionally infringed the rules, for example, drafting on the bike course. A Penalty Box may be used for this penalty.
ストップアンドゴー・タイムペナルティ（競技停止タイムペナルティ）：バイクコースでのドラフティングなど、意図的でないルール違反を行ったことに対し、テクニカルオフィシャル（審判員）が、競技者に短い競技遅延（停止）を科す方法。ペナルティボックスをこのペナルティに適用してもよい。

 

Suspension: An athlete awarded this penalty will not be permitted during the stated suspension period, to take part in any event sanctioned by ITU or its member associations (where determined) affiliated with ITU. For any suspension because of a doping violation, the athlete will not be able to compete in any IOC affiliated sport at any local, regional, state, national or international level. The suspension period may vary in length, depending on the severity of the violation. In the case of a suspension imposed by ITU, the length of the suspension will be determined by the ITU Executive Board.
サスペンション（出場停止）：このペナルティを受けた競技者は、停止期間中において、ITUあるいはITU加盟団体が管轄するいかなる大会にも参加することができない。
出場停止がドーピング違反によるものであれば、競技者は、いずれのIOC加盟競技、ローカル、地域、州、国内、国際レベルの競技にも出場することはできない。停止期間は、違反の重大性に応じて期間が変わる。ITUが科した出場停止の場合、この期間はITU理事会が決定する。

 

Swim Course: Part of the race course over which it has been defined in the Athletes’ Briefing that the athlete is to swim within distinctive lane boundaries. In triathlons and aquathlons, the swim course commences at the start line and concludes at the water’s edge/exit prior to entry to the Transition Area.
スイムコース（水泳競技コース）：限定的なコースの境界線のなかで、競技者が泳ぐための競技コースの一部であり、アスリーツブリーフィングで明示される。トライアスロンやアクアスロンでは、スイムコースはスタートラインに始まり、トランジションエリア入口手前の水際/出水地点で終わる。

 

Technical Delegate: A Technical Official, who is qualified by ITU, and responsible for ensuring all aspects of the ITU Competition Rules and ITU Event Organisers’ Manual are fulfilled in preparation for, during, and after the event. Where appeals are lodged, the Technical Delegate will be the chair of the Competition Jury. The Technical Delegate will normally be responsible for conducting or overseeing the conduct of event sanctioning.

Technical Official: A member of the joint team of International Technical Officials (ITOs), Continental Technical Officials (CTOs) and National Technical Officials (NTOs) at an ITU event.

Torso: Section of the body extending from the base of the neck to the base of the sternum.
トルソー（胴体の上半部）：身体の首の付け根から、胸骨の下辺までの部分。

Transition Area: A location within a defined boundary, which is not a part of the swim course, the bike course or the run course and within which each athlete is allocated an area for the storage of individual items of clothing and equipment.
トランジションエリア（競技変換地点）：スイム・バイク・ランのコースとして定義されない部分で、明示された仕切り線のある場所で、競技者は、衣服や用具など個々の物品を置くエリアを与えられる。

 

Triathlon: A sport of individual or team character and motivation, which combines swimming, cycling and running skills in continuum.
トライアスロン（三種目複合競技）：スイミング、サイクリング、ランニングのスキルを連続して組み合わせた、個人またはチームの特質や意欲を競うスポーツ。（訳注：スイム、バイク、ランを連続して行う競技）

 

Valid Start with Early Starters: Almost all the athletes start after the horn, but few of them did start before the horn. The start is declared valid and the early starters will receive a time penalty warning in T1.
バリッド・スタート・ウィズ・アーリースタート（アーリー・スタートを伴った有効なスタート）：ほぼすべての競技者が、ホーンの後にスタートしたが、何人かがホーンの前にスタートした場合。スタートは有効と宣言されるが、アーリースタートした競技医者は、トランジション１（T1）でタイムペナルティ通告を受ける。

 

Venue: All warm-up and competition areas, the air space above such areas, official hotel, broadcasters, press and media areas, sport expo area, contiguous areas, including without limitation spectators’ area, VIP areas, transition area, finish area and all other areas under control of LOC.

Violation: A rule infringement which results in a penalty.
バイオレーション（違反行為）：ペナルティに帰するルール違反。

Warning: A verbal caution issued by a Technical Official to an athlete during the course of a race. The purpose of a warning is to alert the athlete of the potential for a rule violation to occur and to promote a pro-active attitude.
ウォーニング（警告）：レース途上で、審判員が、競技者に発する口頭での警告。警告の目的は、ルール違反を生じさせる可能性のある競技者への注意を喚起し、未然に防ぐ態度を促すことである。
